Following their 2 – 1 FA Community Shield loss in the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United yesterday, Leicester City FC boss Claudio Ranieri has announced the club is targeting 40 points this Premier League season – just as he said last season before Leicester went on to win the title.
During an interview shortly after the Sunday match, Ranieri said:
“Forty points [is the target]. Don’t laugh! I restart with the same philosophy, the same humility, that is it. What we achieved was fantastic, but now, 40 points. Then, we’ll see.
The former Chelsea manager also added:
“Congratulations to Manchester United, but also to my players as we made a great match. Second half we played very well. I thought the minimum we deserved was penalties, but when you play against great champions, this can happen.”
