The Management of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, has placed a ban on the registration of religious groups and fellowship on campus.
The latest development was communicated in a release signed by the management of the institution.
According to the University’s management, the ban came into action due to the sporadic multiplication of fellowships on the school’s campus.
The management also stated that such growing fellowships occupy lecture halls/classrooms/open fields for meetings on Sunday morning.
The management of the University in the statement however spared some religious groups to include; the Students Christian Movement, Christian Union Nigerian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES), Scripture Union Campus Fellowship; the Nigeria Federation of Catholic Student and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria to continue their religious activities in the school.
The statement also issued warnings to persons who flout the latest rules enacted by the university management.
