Sugar Shortage Hits Ethiopia, Causes Violent Eruptions

Ethiopia has been revealed to be faced with a gross case of sugar shortage.

The country, due to the shortage of sugar has reportedly witnessed several violent protests.

BBC reports that the bad weather in the country had led to the shortage and scarcity of the product.

The Ethipian government has however said that it will import more sugar from countries such as Algeria and Thailand to combat the current surge of sugar shortage in the country.

BBC reports that at present, households are allowed to buy 5kg of sugar -which is hard to come by- once a month from certain shops.
