The South African Presidency released a statement following a reported call that took place between United States president Donald Trump and South African president Jacob Zuma around 5PM local time.
Part of the statement read:
“They discussed…the quest for peace and stability on the African continent.
“There are six hundred US companies in South Africa and strong trade relations between the two countries.”
Zuma also congratulated Trump on his election as the USA’s 45th president.
According to Nigeria’s presidency sources, Trump also spoke with Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari on phone just before he called his South African counterpart on Monday.
