Slave Trade: Amnesty International implicates EU In Libya slave trade

An international body under the aegis of Amnesty International has accused the European Union, EU, of secretly funding the ongoing slave trade in Libya.

Recall that the slave trade which involves buying and selling of Africans, mostly immigrants, came into the spotlight some weeks ago garnering the attention of several national and international bodies.

In the wake of the slave trade report, over 300 Nigerians have since been repatriated from Libya.

Amnesty International however stated that the ship used by the Libyan slave traders to transport victims belong to the European Union thereby drawing a connection between the crime syndicate and the EU.

Amnesty International made the allegation via its social media page on Twitter where it said: “Tortured. Raped. Sold. Rescued? No. This is the real face of the horrific EU deal with #Libya”
