Resident flee as explosion rocks Yobe State

An explosion which was traced to a welding machine made residents of Damaturu, Yobe State to flee on Wednesday 24 August, thinking that the town was under a Boko Haram terrorist attack.

Narrating the incident, Army spokesman George Okupe told newsmen:

“It was an accidental explosion from a welding tank when a welder was working on a pipe for a soldier.

“The welder died instantly while the soldier and one other civilian sustained injuries and are responding to treatment at the Specialists Hospital Damaturu.”
