Ukrainian policewoman Arina Koltsova has lost her life after battling tuberculosis for 7 months. Koltsova was arresting a criminal on 1 January 2016 when the man, a carrier of the deadly disease, spat on her face and she instantly got infected. She eventually died on Monday 25 July 2016.

Her colleague Mikhail Kindrakevich said of the 35-year-old woman:

“She became ill after New Year’s Day. She had arrested this guy and he spat in her face. Some time later she collapsed.

“She had received treatment. She underwent chemotherapy, she was fed food through an IV drip and she had lost a lot of weight.”
