A South African pastor has been reported dead after he drowned in a river while performing the holy act of baptism on his members.
According to report, tragedy struck in South Africa when the pastor took his church members to the river at Blood River village in Seshego outside Polokwane.
The pastor was reported to have drowned in the process leaving the yet to be baptized members in shock.
The body of the pastor was however recovered as reports indicate that he was not the first pastor to have drowned in a river during baptism in South Africa.
The IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst, while speaking on the incident said the rescue team responded along with police divers to the scene near Ezimbokodweni Primary school in Y section where a search took place for the 36-year-old man’s body.
“A dive operation was conducted and the victim’s body was located at a depth of 4m in rapidly flowing water. The body was recovered and handed over to the Bhekithemba detectives on scene.”
