Obasanjo’s letter to Buhari is nothing but a political move – Tinubu

An All Progressive Congress, APC, chieftain and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the viral letter addressed to the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari by a former president of the country, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

The All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu, while speaking in a recent interview granted to journalists during his visit to Governor Rochas Okorocha in company of the pioneer National Chairman of APC, Bisi Akande, stated that the former president’s letter was nothing but pure politics.

Bola Tinubu, while speaking at the Government House Owerri, on Friday, stated that the time is not ripe to discuss the issue.

He added that Obasanjo was “playing politics with the public letter”.

“They both had the same background. So, I believe that would have been the conversation of retired military heads of State.

“They have unfettered access to each other, either through the Council of State or via any other means. He could see the president privately.

“He (Obasanjo) was also his (Buhari) senior in the army. I think Obasanjo was playing politics with the public letter. That is all I see.

“They also met at the African Union meeting. He has a way of discussing with the President any time he wants.”

Recall that Obasanjo in the 18 page letter to Buhari had advised him to dump his second term ambition and retire to his hometown in Daura, Katsina State.

Obasanjo further called on the National Assembly to “raise the alarm or call for correction” of President Muhammadu Buhari’s actions which he, Obasanjo, described as a violation of the principle of federal character Commission.
