Nigeria U-23 team stranded in USA, can't fly to Brazil Olympics due to shortage of funds
With days left before Nigeria’s U-23 Olympic match in Rio, Brazil, the team are in dilemma over the inability to get into Brazil due to some money issues, BBC reports.

Quoting a report by the United Kingdom news outfit:

“Nigeria’s Olympic football squad are stuck in Atlanta with the charter airline hired to fly them refusing to leave until they have been paid. The delay means they are expected to arrive in Brazil less than 36 hours before their opening match against Japan at 0100 GMT on Friday.

“The money paid by the [sports] ministry for the charter flight did not hit airline’s account on Tuesday so they refused to fly the team to Brazil,” a source close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) told BBC.

The problems seem to have happened due to the money having to go through different bank accounts and currency conversions. Several players in the team, say they do not yet know when they will be travelling.
