Nigeria to stop exportation and importation of fuel in 2019 – Femi Adesina

A special adviser to the Nigerian President Muhammdu Buhari, on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has on a television program, Sunrise Daily with Channels Television stated that Nigeria will stop the importation and exportation of fuel by 2019.

Speaking in the wake of the current surge of fuel scarcity which has plagued the nation in the past few days, the presidential aide noted that the lingering fuel scarcity is because of the obsolete and unused local refineries in the country.

He maintained: “When you import fuel and do not produce fuel locally or the refineries do not work once in a while fuel scarcity should be expected, as long as you have those variables not under your total control you can’t rule that out.”

Nigerians however took to their social media page to blast the ruling political party, All Progressive Congress, APC, and the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
