One of the contestants in the 2018 edition of the annual Brazilian Miss Bumbum pageant show has been revealed to be a transgender.
The transgender contestant, one of the 27 selected for the top prize, Paula, was born Vinicius Oliveira in Porto Alegre.
The 28-year-old transsexual dancer revealed that she had waited a period of two years for her paperwork to finally read ‘Paula’.
She revealed that she had undergone a sexual reassignment surgery six years ago with the support and help of her father who got all the documentation required.
She said: “At 18 I arrived at my father’s and told him I was gay and he accepted this so, you know, it was all good. It was him who got the sex exchange for me, the documents to change, he always ran after all of this for me.
“If it were not for him I would not be trans operated nowadays. When I started turning trans my mother did not accept it but nowadays they are good.”
