Man Impersonates Mike Adenuga, defrauds victim of N1million

A 24-year-old Nigerian man identified as Ehioboh Lucky, has been arrested by‎ the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly impersonating businessman, Mike Adenuga to perpetrate internet fraud.

The Ogun State Police Command while speaking through its Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed that the suspect opened a Facebook account in the name of Mr. Adenuga to defraud innocent people.

Speaking on how the fraudster was caught, the Police revealed that his arrest came after a report was lodged by one of the victims, Abiola Ogunseye, whom was defrauded of the sum of N1,028,770.

The Police PRO stated that the suspect hails from Edo State and opened a Facebook account with the name and picture of the business mogul which he has been using to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

He stated: “One of his victims, Abiola Olalekan Ogunseye came in contact with him on Facebook where he promised to get employment for him at Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC).”

The victim was reported to have paid the sum in order to “influence his appointment.”

Oyeyemi added: “The sum of N1,028,770 has so far been paid to suspect before the victim realised that he is a fraudster.”

The victim was reported to have lodged a complaint through a petition to the Commissioner of Police and Officer in charge of Anti Kidnapping and Cultism, Opeyemi Kujoore.

Oyeyemi revealed that the police was directed to look into the case leading to the apprehension of the suspect weeks after investigation commenced.

The suspect was reportedly arrested on November 6.

Oyeyemi revealed the items recovered from the suspect to include an iPhone 6, one Dell laptop, eight different sim cards, five different ATM cards and one international passport.
