Maina’s Reinstatement: Ministry of Interior Denies Allegation

The Ministry of Interior has denied allegations that it reinstated the former boss of the defunct Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdurasheed Maina, back to office.

Recall that Maina had claimed that the Buhari-led administration had secretly reinstated him following the allegations of fraud which was leveled against him.

However, the ad-hoc Committee on the Disappearance, re-appearance and reinstatement of Maina was graced with a shocker today when the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior claimed he got instructions to reinstate Maina.

The HOS, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita however countered the allegation on the spot as she said: “This is not quite correct to put it mildly.”

Further in the hearing, Abubakar Magaji, declared that Maina, against his claims was not reinstated.

Magaji then called on anyone with useful information regarding the reinstatement of the former pension boss to come forward with it.

Magaji while appearing before the House of Representatives Committee investigating the recall and reinstatement of the ex-pension boss into the Federal Civil Service said: “Maina was not reinstated. That he is entering the ministry does not mean he was part of the workforce.

“I challenge anyone who has documents showing that Maina was reinstated and assigned an office in the Ministry of Interior to show it.

“I’m the permanent Secretary. I did not reinstate Maina and I know my colleagues here didn’t do that behind me.”
