An arrested suspect, Felix Simon, 25, who worked as a gateman to a retired military personnel has following his arrest confessed to working with friends to rob and kill his boss, Mrs. Vivian Rafatu Ajibua, 61.
The gateman while narrating the details of the crime which took place at Ugiagbe Street, Off Ogbonmwan Street, Off Ugbor Road, Government Reservation Area said himself along with his friends struck at about 3am on January 18.
Felix Simon while narrating the incident revealed that he raised an alarm regarding a mysterious fire which had engulfed his boss’s apartment on the night of January 18 which led sympathizers to putting the fire out after which his boss was found dead inside her room.
The neighbours however called the police who along with the deceased’s relatives took the corpse to the mortuary.
However, Felix was reported to have been seen throwing his belongings and household items of his late boss over the fence to a nearby uncompleted building following the incident.
He was then caught and handed over to the police where he revealed during interrogations that he had recruited his friend, one Peter Zachariah and eight other gatemen in the area to commit the crime.
Felix also confessed that one Musa and Isah, both at large killed his boss in her room.
The fleeing suspects were reported to have worked as gatemen in the building opposite Felix’s late boss’ house.
Felix said: “When my madam was not in the house they came and told me that they want to rob madam. I told them that madam was not at home. They left and returned in the night. Musa just slapped my face and told me to sit by the gate as they entered the house.
“After some minutes they left. Then I saw fire inside the house. I started shouting for help.
“I didn’t know they will kill her. I don’t know what came over me. This is evil.”
