Nigerian singer and Mavins act, Reekado Banks, has in a recent interview revealed that controversies pay more in the entertainment world adding that he does not bother himself about the negative comments from his critics.
Speaking during an interview with Sunday Scoop, the Nigerian singer mentioned that all that matters to him is that he is smiling to the bank.
Reekado Banks, said: “Every artiste should know how to quantify their success. This year has not ended, but I have made more money than I did last year or the previous year. It is just the perception of some people who think this year has not been good for Reekado. I’ve made more than double of what I made last year. So, if you think last year was good for Reekado, I can confidently tell you that this year is far better.”
He added: “I am sure Tiwa Savage would not say that this year hasn’t been a good one. She dropped hit songs and she is fully booked for December. I am fully booked for December too and the same thing applies to other artistes under Mavin. So, I don’t understand why people are comparing last year with this year.”
While addressing the issue of more fame which is accrued to controversial artistes, the Nigerian singer added: “Controversies, in a way, put you in the public eye. In showbiz, no matter how good you are, the controversial singers get more credit and awards. But I don’t quantify success with awards; it is far different from that.”
