Embattled suspended Nigerian lawmaker, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin’s bid to return to the National Assembly has suffered a massive setback as the court sitting on the case has indefinitely suspended the case.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja while deciding on the suit filed by Hon. Jibrin to challenge his suspension from the House of Representatives was rejected by the Federal High Court on grounds that there is an existing appeal case on the same matter which is pending at the Supreme Court.
Hon. Jibrin’s counsel, Chief Femi Falana, SAN, while before the court argued that the pending appeal case should be disregarded while the High Court made its decision but the House of Representatives counsel drew the court’s attention to the pendency of the appeal before the Supreme Court and urged the Court not to proceed with the case.
Justice John Tsoho, while delivering his verdict stated that he will not continue with the case until the matter is dispensed with by the apex court.
