Fuel Scarcity: Senate suspends recess, invites Kachikwu, NNPC’s GMD, others

The Nigerian Senate, in a bid to put an end to the issue of fuel scarcity which has rocked the country in the past weeks has suspended its recess and invited the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Maikanti Baru and other relevant stakeholders in the petroleum sector to a crucial meeting on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

The latest development was communicated by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Senator Kabiru Marafa, stating that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, made the directive on Thursday.

The Committee has on the orders of the Senate President also summoned the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

Senator Kabiru Marafa further revealed that the meeting will hold in the Senate Hearing Room 221 and its proceedings will be aired live on the Nigerian Television Authority.

The meeting is expectedly aimed at addressing the lingering fuel scarcity which has plagued the nation in the last few weeks.
