The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has released the arrested and detained former Secretary General to the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.

Recall that Babachir Lawal was arrested by the anti-graft agency hours after a former president of the country, Olusegun Obasanjo, in his 18-page letter to the serving president, Muhammadu Buhari, accused him of coondoning corruption within his ranks.

Lawal who had been sacked from office following a Senate indictment was subsequently arrested by the EFCC and has since been in custody since Wednesday.

Lawal’s arrest came in connection with fraud allegations relating to grass cutting contracts.
