A former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Lawal Kaita has died at the age of 85.
The former state Governor who was a major player in the second republic and was also the third civilian governor of the state was reported to have died at the Turkish Hospital in Abuja yesterday evening.
The late former state Governor served on the platform of the defunct National Party of Nigeria, NPN, in October 1983.
His election came after he led the political struggle that led to the impeachment of Alhaji Balarabe Musa as governor of the state.
Following his ascension to power, Kaita served only for three months before he was overthrown by a coup staged by Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) which ended the Second Republic.
Kaita will be buried today according to Islamic rites
