Ex-Vice President Alex Ekwueme Dies At 85

A former Vice President of the country, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme is reportedly dead.

The passing away of the former leader of the country was made known via a statement issued by the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, on behalf of the family of his brother.

The statement released confirmed the passing away of the former Nigerian Vice President Alex Ekwueme who was some days ago flown to the United Kingdom for proper medical attention.

Before his death, he was reported to have been battling a chest infection.

The deceased who died at 85 was in the statement revealed to have been stabilized in a Nigerian hospital after he slumped at his residence before he was thereafter flown to the UK in air ambulance on Sunday.

Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme was reported to have died at a London clinic on Sunday by 10:00pm.

The statement added: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON. The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.”
