Ex-Super Eagles Goal Keeper, Vincent Enyeama Escapes Attack in France

Former Nigerian Super Eagles goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama, has escaped a mob attack by football fans in France after his club, Lille, payed a 1-1 draw against Montpellier in the French Ligue 1.

The mob attack which occurred over the weekend came as Vincent Enyeama out of the game for his side at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Villeneuve d’Ascq).

Following the match, the Nigerian footballer who was not named as part of the provisional team for the match was assaulted alonside other players by fans who occupied the football field to protest the performance of the team.

One of the angry fans was reported to have his a Lille striker, Nicolas Pepe in the leg while yet another player, Adam Sumarao, a defender was also injured,

Fans also proceeded to assault and insult the club president, Gerard Lopez, for the team’s poor performance in the League.

Vincent Enyeama in a social media reaction to the incident said: “How did we get here.the last time losc had fans on the pitch was for celebration.the real fan/supporter will always stay behind the team no matter what.good or bad times.tousensemble#onestlelosc#ilfautpasoublie.”
