Ex-Minister, Jumoke Akinjide Allegedly Returns N650m To EFCC

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Jumoke Akinjide, has reportedly returned the sum of N650 million to the Federal Government through the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Akinjide was reported to have informed the court of the latest development yesterday while appearing before Justice Muslim Sule Hassan of a Federal High Court siting in Lagos.

Akinjide also told the court of her plans to reach an out-of-court settlement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Recall that the EFCC had arraigned the former minister before the court on charged bordering on fraud and money laundering involving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s campaign fund in Oyo State which was received from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Akinjide’s lawyer, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, also told the court before the start of trial that the party took the decision to return the fund complained of by the prosecution through his client.

The court after listening to the submission of the parties adjourned further hearing in the matter till February 22.
