The Emir of Kano and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Muhammadu Sanusi II has been banned from visiting Cyprus.
According to fresh report, the Emir was barred from visiting the country by the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey, Amb. Ilyasu Audu Paragalda.
The latest development comes following the Emir’s scheduled visit to the Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus on the 15th of March for a lecture.
Giving reasons why the Emir will not be allowed entry into Cyprus, the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey revealed that the Emir’s visitation request was denied based on diplomatic reasons.
Amb. Ilyasu Audu Paragalda further stated that Northern Cyprus is not safe for the Emir.
He added: “The reason is Also because Northern Cyprus is a non-recognized country therefore not a safe place.”
