Chelsea were able to overcome Leicester in their opening League Cup match after coming from 2 goals down. In the 17th minute of gameplay, Shinji Okazaki scored for Leicester after pouncing on a Chelsea defensive error. The forward came back 17 minutes later for his second goal of the match.
A Gary Cahill header from Fabregas’ corner gifted Chelsea a one-goal claw-back and Cesar Azpilicueta put the game on level terms with a superb shot outside the 18-year box in 50 minutes.
Chelsea were already mounting pressure on their opponents for a 3rd when Marcin Wasilewski elbowed substitute Diego Costa and was sent off in the 89th minute.
Two goals in quick succession by Cesc Fabregas in the 92nd and 94th minute during the extra time of 30 minutes meant Chelsea went home with a 4 – 2 win over Leicester, the 2016 Premier League champions.
