Ebonyi lawmaker suspended for taking too many pictures

An Ebonyi state House of Assembly lawmaker, Mrs Maria Ude Nwachi, popularly known as Afikpo Chic, representing Afikpo North East constituency in the Assembly has been suspended on grounds of alleged gross misconduct.

Nwachi was accused by the House of allegedly posing as public photographer, an allegation which made the house leader, Hon. Joseph Nwobasi move a motion for her suspension.

The House leader noted that the suspended lawmaker had refused earlier warnings by the Assembly to desist from such conduct which portrayed her more as a photographer.
Nwachi, a former Minority Leader, was described by the house as a distraction adding that her actions had brought disrespect and dishonesty to herself and the Assembly.

The suspension by the house will last over a period of 14 days while the house awaits the report from the investigative panel set up to look into the allegations leveled against her.

The latest suspension makes the second time Mrs. Nwachi has been suspended from the house as in 2016, she was suspended for sponsoring a protest by Afikpo youths against the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, for epileptic a services to the town.
