Nigerian Federal Government’s secret police, the Department of Security Services, has arrested, or as my source told me, kidnapped James Emeh, the founder and blogger behind IgbereTV blog for allegedly criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari.
James was taken away by 7 officials of DSS who came in two Toyota Hilux SUVs around 6:AM (thank God they didn’t show up around 1AM and pull down the door) at his Uyo, Akwa Ibom State residence on Friday 14 October 2016. Phones, laptops and other electronic devices were taken by the men who neither presented an arrest warrant nor explained what exactly they came to do, James’ wife said.
It is suspected that the blogger’s arrest is linked with criticism of President Buhari and for blogging about Biafran news. So far, the website IgbereTV.com has been shut down by the human rights-loving DSS.
Funny enough, the Nigerian constitution does not state anywhere that criticizing somebody or carrying Biafran news is subjectable to kidnap by the DSS, otherwise, the Buharis, Atikus, Tinubus and others who at one point discussed Biafra issues on TV or in print and also criticized someone, would be rotting in jail by now.
