The national publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh has dragged the Nigerian government to court over abuse of his fundamental human rights.
Representing the PDP spokesperson at a Federal High Court Abuja on Thursday, January 14, Ifedayo Adedikpe said it is unlawful for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to hold his client unnecessary without charges.
Adedikpe appealed for caution on the manner of publications in the media against Metuh. Various reports, Adedikpe said is only aimed at tarnishing the reputation of his client.
After hearing the submissions made by the counsels, the judge over the case, Justice Abang Okon adjourned the case to Wednesday, January 20 for definite hearing.
Also, outside the courthouse was flooded with PDP protesters carrying placards.
The crowd protested the prolonged detention of their party member and infringement on his fundamental human rights.
