Don Jazzy: I was angry with the way Olamide treated "my kids"

Speaking during an interview with OAP Peace Hyde on Thursday, Marvin Records producer Don Jazzy recounted the incident of January 1 2016 where he and YBNL rapper were involved in a war of words which later degraded to a social media melee and had to be settled by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

During The Headies 2015 awards show night, rapper Olamide claimed that Lil Kesh (then signed to YBNL) deserved to win the “Next Rated” category. Don Jazzy, coming on stage to collect an award himself, suggested that his label’s Reekado Banks who won the award was the meited winner, and told Olamide to “come and collect the car” – the prize for that category.

Don Jazzy said during the interview on Thursday:

“I learnt a lesson about anger, I don’t really get angry like that. At that particular point, I was angry and emotional about my kids (Marvin Record artistes).

“You have to understand there’s no greater love than the love of a father for his children,“I think that’s the way people should know the amount of love I have for whoever is working for me. Especially those three (Korede Bello, Reekado Banks and Di’ja). I guess I was weak, I was upset, spoke out of tongue. I’m sorry to my fans that expected better from me.”

Don Jazzy earlier said that parting ways with his former artiste and co-founder of Mo Hits Records, D’banj, was his greatest business mistake
