Coming hot on the heels of a statement credited to a former military leader in the country, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and released through his media aide, Prince Kassim Afegbua, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has reportedly ordered the arrest of the former leader’s aide.
Recall that the media aide had in the statement credited to his boss opined that Buhari should dump his re-election campaign for a newer generation of leaders.
Following the statement, the former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, had issued a disclaimer wherein he distanced himself from the earlier statement released online.
However, a source within the presidency has stated that the IGP has in swift operation ordered the arrest of the former leader’s media aide.
The source within the Presidency further added that a warrant of arrest was issued last night adding that the arrest of IBB’s media aide will be on grounds of issuance of a fake statement.
However, Kassim Afegbua who was on Channels TV last night, maintained that the former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida gave him the permission to release the statement.
Kassin further went ahead to disclose that Babangida countered the second statement, as the first stands.
Prince Kassim Afegbua, in view of the recent development has been adviced to submit himself to the force headquarters within 24 hours, or face arrest.
