The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has hinted on his re-election into office in 2019.
The report comes after one of the leaders of the ruling political platform, the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had stated that the party will employ due process in arriving at its candidate adding that the Nigerian president will not be treated with favouritism at to giving him an automatic ticket.
Buhari, however, in his words, has jokingly hinted at the 2019 run as the Nigerian president, on Tuesday night while interacting with the Nigerian community in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire stated that he might be contesting for re-election in 2019.
Buhari who is in Abidjan for the 5th European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Summit said: “First I want to apologize for keeping you for too long seated, this is because I insisted on the governors attending this meeting. This is why I came along with them so that when we are going to meet you, when you are going to meet the rest of Nigerians if you tell them that their governors were in the accompany of the president.
He added: “I think that will be another vote for me in the future. I’m very pleased that they were able to turn up.”
