Buhari commends Army over rescue of Chibok girl

Nigerian leader President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight over the rescue of one of the 270 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno in 2014.

Buhari said on Saturday:

“I’ve received the heartwarming news of the rescue of another of our Chibok Girls, by the Nigerian Army.

“I commend our troops, who continue to work gallantly to secure the people and territory of Nigeria. You are our heroes.

“No man, woman, or child will be left at the mercy of Boko Haram. This has always been our promise, and we fully intend to keep it.”

The teenager named Maryam Ali Maiyanga, was rescued alongside her 9-month-old baby after her Boko Haram husband was shot dead by Nigerian Army soldiers in Sambisa Forest, Borno State earlier today.
