The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, has reportedly beamed his searchlight on some ministers in his cabinet as he has allegedly initiated a probe.
The Nigerian president was reported to have mandated the ministers to give account of their stewardship.
According to reports, Ministers under the Buhari-led administration have been giving a detailed account to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, at the weekly cabinet meetings on how they released funds so far.
The Agriculture Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh, was reported to have initiated the process followed by the Health Minister, Professor Isaac Adewole.
The Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed while speaking on the report confirmed the latest development within the Buhari-led administration to State House reporters following the conclusion of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by the president, Muhammadu Buhari.
Lai Mohammed said: “ministers are to explain how far they have gone with execution of projects for which their ministries had received funds.”
He further added that “this was aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability.”
