The Nigerian National Assembly has summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over his alleged non-compliance with a directive issued by the lawmakers.
Recall that the lawmakers had directed the IG of Police to arrest and prosecute the suspected herdsmen who attacked communities in Benue State leading to the death of no less than 73 people.
The Inspector General of Police however, following his failure to make arrests has been summoned by the National Assembly’s Committee on Police Affairs to explain his resolution.
The IG of Police is expected to appear before the Senate Committee today, Thursday, to explain the latest development before the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
The committee set up to look into the IG’s case is expected to deliver its report to the house on Tuesday when the chamber would deliberate on the next line of action.
