Agric minister Audu Ogbeh: Fulani herdsmen killing farmers is tradition but it has to stop

Minister of Agriculture Audu Ogbeh has listed the conditions for clashes between farmers and herdsmen which has left an estimated amount of 1500 people dead in Nigeria this year alone.

Ogbe while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday 3 August 2016 said:

“The clash between farmers and herdsmen has been getting worse by the years and by the grace of God I will bring it to an end (by planting of grasses). No farmer in the world would like to plant his crops and arrive to see that cows have eaten everything up.

“Whether it is a culture or not we cannot afford it any more, it has to stop.”

He also added that Nigeria already has foreign clients for the grasses:

“The Saudi Arabia is asking that if Nigeria can grow enough grass they will buy to feed their cows.”
