Abducted Lekki landlords regain freedom after kidnappers demanded N1.2bn ransom

All four kidnapped victims of Heritage Estate, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State have regained their freedom. Earlier this week, one of the landlords luckily escaped the kidnappers den. Furthermore, on late Thursday night, the three others  were released by their abductors but they were able to arrive safely to their homes in the wee hours of Friday.

It wasn’t clear if any ransom was paid to secure their release but a resident of the estate was quoted saying:

“We thank God. They have been released. They got home late. I don’t have much details now.”

The three landlords, Kennedy Ucheagwu, Dr. Omololu Bello, Fidelis Esang and their trainer coach Oni were jogging in the vicinity of Heritage Estate when they were abducted by men clad in military camouflage on Saturday 17 September 2016.

The kidnappers went on to demand a total of 1.2bn naira ransom in exchange for their release but were said to have settled for N20m after a long bargain by family members.
