Members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have taken to the street in large numbers to demonstrate their dissatisfaction over the today’s scheduled visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Enugu, Southeast Nigeria.
The pro-Biafran group is accusing the Nigerian leader of killing its members during earlier peaceful protests and over his role in the death of millions of victims in the Nigeria-Biafra Civil war of 1967.
President Buhari, although yet not announced officially, has cancelled his visit to Enugu where he alongside 5 governors of the region were billed to attend the maiden edition of South-East Economic and Security Summit (SEESS) today.
Organizer of SEESS, former Power minister Barth Nnaji had earlier confirmed the president would be present in Enugu State today, saying on Monday,
“President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed his participation in the maiden South-East Economic and Security Summit.”
