A Lagos-based clergyman, Pastor Bassey James, has narrated how he narrowly escaped death as the roof of Reigners Bible Church in Akwa Ibom capital Uyo caved in on him and other members of the Christian faithfuls during a church programme on Saturday 10 December 2016.
James, a senior pastor at Royal House of Faith Ministries, Lagos State, alleged that the Holy Spirit of God ordered him to change the position of his sitting before the church building collapsed, killing at least 50 and wounding many more.
“I moved and sat at another place. The spirit also said I should move to another place. Yes, the spirit said I should change my seat again. I did. Ten minutes thereafter, the building collapsed. Heavy rods collapsed on people.
“The man that was seated with the governor was hit. So many commissioners were there. I would have loved to sit where the governor sat, but I decided to sit with the ministers, but when I sat there the spirit told me to relocate.”
