Top flight Brazilian football club Chapecoense lost team players and officials after a plane carrying the squad crashed into mountains near the Medellin International Airport in Colombia around 10PM local time on Monday 28 November 2016.
Chapecoense was billed to play in the Copa Sudamericana final in Colombia this week before the sad incident happened. There were 76 passengers and 9 crew aboard the commercial plane the team flew with.
According to Mayor of La Union,Hugo Botero Lopez,
“There are firemen from La Union, Rionegro, El Carmen de Vibroal, La Ceja, there are more than 90 lifeguards, but it is not easy to get people who are alive.”
