Five cases of Lassa fever have been reported in Bauchi, and out of the five, four have been sent to the other side of the great divide.
The Bauchi State commissioner for health, Dr Halima Muquaddas, confirming the incident, said it was due to non-maintenance of environmental and personal hygiene.
Muqaddas said that all suspected cases would be quarantined at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
The commissioner directed all health facilities in the state to treat all cases with utmost caution to fast-track diagnosis of the disease.
Lassa fever, a disease caused by rats, had been completely eradicated in mid 2015.
