Lagos State government demolishes Igbara Market, Lekki

For being located under high tension electricity cables, the Lagos State government on Sunday 14 August destroyed over 360 shops at the Igbara Market in Jakande, Lekki, Lagos State.

The chairman of spare parts dealers in the market,  Ugo Onuoha, lamented the demolition, noting that the market has been in existence for over 20 years. He said the shop owners were given a 7-day notice before their properties were mowed down with heavy bulldozers and caterpillars.
