Shortly after his Eid prayers on Monday, Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, who spoke to journalists, declared that some “bad eggs” have found their way into the midst of Fulani herdsmen, urging authorities to fish them out.
Abubakar said that..
“They are therefore terrorists and should be treated as such by the Nigerian security agencies. The Nigerian herdsmen are very peace-loving and law abiding.”
In 2016 alone, more than a thousand people have lost their lives in Benue State, other parts of North Central and Southern Nigeria during herdsmen/farmers-related clashes.
