Pape Souare joined Premier League side Crystal Palace in January 2015 for 4 million Euros from French club Lille. The 26-year-old Senegalese defender crashed his convertible Mercedes G-Wagon following a nasty road accident near Heathrow Airport in East London on Sunday, September 11.
Firefighters had to lift Pape in a helicopter to hospital. His exotic vehicle which costs in the region of 30 million naira was totalled following the crash.
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew released a statement afterwards, saying:
“He’s not in a good way in terms of football because I think he’s broken his leg maybe but thankfully he looks sound other than that, and a bit bashed up,
“We’ll have to look after him and get him back as quick as we can. He’s great lad, a great player for us and he’ll be a big loss. These things happen and, more importantly, it’s not more than it could have been because, obviously, if you see the state of the car and the size of the accident, it was a big accident.”
